The Golf Cart Battery Guide
This article is about achieving optimum performance from your golf cart.
Allow me to first give you some background. Five years ago I decided to retire and since golf is one of my passions, my 4 sons decided to buy me a golf cart.
You see we live in an adult community with 4 Championship Golf Courses in the Phoenix area which means I can play golf almost every day if I want.
I can also use the golf cart to run errands to the grocery store, barber shop, cleaners, and bank.

Without any prior experience with maintenace of a golf cart, I would have it serviced once a year. I would also check the batteries every month for distilled water levels and of course charge them before I played.
The golf cart really worked out great with my new lifestyle until one day it stopped. And it stopped on the fourth hole of play on the golf course, about as far as you can get from the clubhouse.
Well no one in our foursome carries a cell phone so we had to wait until one of the foursomes behind us provided one. After calling the club house, we managed to have one of the club golf carts brought out to us so we could rejoin our foursome which was now at the seventh hole.
In the meantime, the club house managed to call the golf cart service shop and they came out to tow the cart into their shop and diagnose the problem. All I can say is “Do not let battery breakdown problems happen to you!”
It cost me $900 to replace the 7 batteries plus another $800 to replace the battery charger.

Well it is all possible with the proper care and maintenance of deep cycle batteries. In fact, you can double or triple the life of your golf cart's non sealed, lead acid, deep cycle batteries with proper care.
So do not get caught like I was stranded out on the golf course.
